Taming of the Shrew
Main idea:
A stubborn women,or shrew gets married, fights with her husband, becomes an obedient wife, and lectures others on being a good wife.
Setting: Play begins in the town of Padua, then moves onto Verona, Petruchio's home.

Katherine- the daughter who is a shrew
Lucentio- suitor, tutor(disguised as Cambio a Latin tutor) and future husband of Bianca

Summary:
The play begins with a dilemma, Baptista has two daughters he wishes to marry off. Bianca is fair, and has plenty of suitors. Katherine is known as a schrew, and no one wishes to have her as a wife. Senior Baptista derives a plan to keep Bianca in the house in hopes that someone will find Katherine attractive. In order to encourage suitors, the rich Baptista offers a heavy dowry to anyone who marries Katherine. In order to keep Bianca happy at home, Baptista hires her tutors.
Everyone in town is talking about Baptista's offer. Bianca's suitors are eager to find someone for Katherine to wed, so they have a chance to marry Bianca.
After his father's death,Petruchio comes into town to visit his friend Hortensio and to find someone rich to marry. Hortensio, one of Bianca's suitors, tells Petruchio about Baptisa's offer. Immediately upon hearing the offer, Petruchio vows to marry Katherine. Petruchio deems that no woman is too shrewd for him if she is rich enough. Petruchio convinces Baptista that Katherine is acceptable to the idea. In the meantime, Lucentio pretends to be a tutor to Bianca so that he can woo her. Petruchio marries Katherine, and they head to his home in Verona.
Once in Verona, Petruchio is convinced that he can tame his new wife through starvation, sleep deprivation, and compliments. After some struggle, Katherine is tamed.
In the last act, Lucentio and Bianca are married. Petruchio and Katherine returns to Padua, and are invited to a celebration dinner for the new couple. At the dinner, a competition arises, and men wager who has the most obedient wife. The men each have their servant summons their wives, and one by one each refuses except one. Katherine immediately comes at her husbands request. Petruchio then asks Katherine to fetch the other wives, and she does so willingly. Baptista and the others are convinced that Petruchio has the most obedient wife and that Petruchio has won the wager. In the end, Katherine lectures the others wives on the importance of wifely submission.
